By now, we know that Luke Skywalker’s dad is alive and well in the Star Wars universe.
But now we know where that will lead the sequel.
The Last Hero, which will hit theaters on Dec. 18, will feature an extended flashback to Luke Skywalker.
In the clip, we see Luke’s dad, Han Solo, being chased by a mysterious, giant, robotic, green, flying creature.
It is not the first time that the actor’s dad has appeared in a Star Wars trailer, but this is the first of many times that we will see this iconic family member.
The trailer for The Last Knight, which is set for release on December 25, 2017, also includes a new clip featuring a new character: the Wookiee, who appears to be a very, very powerful Force-sensitive.
“We’ve done a lot of work with the original Star Wars trilogy to bring back the Wookies, but the original trilogy is such a unique place,” said executive producer and writer J.J. Abrams.
“The Wookie is such an iconic character, and it’s so important to have the Wokeies, the Force-sensitives, in the new trilogy.”
The Wookys, or “Wookiees” as the movie’s producers like to call them, are also the focus of the Star Trek Beyond sequel, which arrives in theaters this year.
“This movie has a new Wooky, so we thought we’d bring the Wooks back to Star Wars,” Abrams said.
The Wookiees are also featured in the first trailer for the new Star Wars feature, Star Wars Episode VIII: The Force Awakens, which premiered last week.
In that clip, Leia (Daisy Ridley) is seen being chased on the run by a Wookie, with Han and Chewbacca watching on.
The teaser trailer for Episode VIII has more than a few nods to the WOOKIES in it.
Leia, who was the first female Wookie in the galaxy, is a fighter pilot who was trained by General Leia Organa.
Leia’s Wookie piloting skills and her close relationship with Chewbacka, Lando Calrissian, was key to her success.
“There are moments in the teaser trailer that are really important, like, this Wookie is in the trailer with Lando and they’re flying together,” Abrams told The Hollywood Reporter.
“And there’s a moment where Chewie is just flying past and Han is like, ‘Hey, Chewies can fly.’
And she’s like, Yeah, I guess they can, too.”
The teaser also features a Wooko called “Furor” who looks more like a WOOKIE than a WEDGE.
“It’s one of the first times we’ve seen someone from the WEDGIES, the Wakenies, in a trailer,” Abrams added.
“She’s like a wookie, but not really, just in terms of her personality.
But it’s a cool way to introduce a character to a new generation.”
Abrams and his writing team are working to flesh out the WONDERFUL WOOKY, who is also featured prominently in the opening scene of Star Wars The Last Republic, the movie that followed the original series.
“Star Wars has had an amazing journey, and the WAKES have had an incredible journey,” Abrams explained.
“They have been a part of that journey for so long that they’ve got this whole mythology.
And it’s an amazing moment when they come together and they say, ‘Okay, we’re going to start to work on a new universe.
“As we see WONES in the future, the world, there will be a WAKER!” “
Abrams added, as the WOKER logo flashes. “

“So, this is where we go to find WONER and WAKERS.
And the WOODY WONERY.
It’s just a really cool place to start, and a really great place to be.”
