In the last couple of years I have noticed a lot changes in my shop, the way we are working and the changes in the customers I work with.
“They are coming back into the shop more and are spending more time at the shop, but they are also going out to the craft market and buying a lot.”
Woodworking Plans for the 21st Century: An Interview with Jointer and Sagittal planer in Dublin (Irish Times)A big change is the new way of working, which has brought a different focus to woodworking.
“There is a lot less focus on the hand, on the hammer, on all the things that are not really important,” said Jointer.
“They will just go straight to the machine, which is really the first thing that comes to mind.”
In her bookshop, Jointer plans to focus on making custom woodworking and also custom wood-working plans for the next 10 years.
Jointer said there is a strong interest in custom woodwork in her shop. “
My clients are going to want to make their own custom plans because the machines are so much better now.”

“We see people from all walks of life wanting custom wood.
We see children as well.
We are just really excited by it and we want to be able to offer the service to our clients that they want.”
Jointers customers also want the tools they have bought from her to be as durable as possible.
“If they don’t have to be replaced, they will be more than happy to take their old tools and go back to work,” she said.
Jointers clients will also want to have a plan that allows them to have the flexibility to get out and do things that they enjoy.
“A lot of people have their own hobbies and they will want to come and pick up some of my work or give me a gift,” said the owner of the shop in Dublin’s inner city.

“It’s a change that is coming,” she added.
“Now the customers have to go out and buy the tools and I am the person who sells them.”
“People are coming and going all the time, they are not coming to the shop anymore.
We have seen a lot change in the last two years.
It’s very exciting to see the changes.”
What I see in my customers is more of a desire for something unique and not just the traditional wooden shop.
They are looking for something more.
